The name "orangutan" is from the Malay word orang meaning "person" and utan meaning "forest", thus "person of the forest" Orangutans are the largest arboreal mammals. Both species of orangutans are critically endangered, primarily due to habitat loss.

Palm oil is found in half the products sold in grocery stores and is a major causes of rainforest destruction. You can do your part to help orangutans by looking at your products before buying, many of your everyday items may contain palm oil.
